Welcome, you’ve just found me.

Budapest highlights tour - local guide and driver inside a private carMy name is Tamás Gráf, and I’ve been showing visitors around Budapest for years.

This Budapest Highlights Tour is designed for travelers who want to see the city’s most beautiful and famous landmarks in comfort, with stories, flexibility, and no rush. You’ll travel in a private car with a panoramic roof, enjoy chilled mineral water, and stop at the most breathtaking viewpoints for photos and local insights.

This tour is ideal if you’d like a clear, well-paced introduction to Budapest – seeing the highlights without feeling rushed, while still understanding what you’re looking at and why it matters.

Guests often tell me they appriciate the calm pace, clear explanations, and the feeling of being looked after rather than rushed.

See the must-see highlights of Budapest

Vajdahunyad Castle in City Park, Budapest

During this 3-8 hour private tour, you’ll explore both sides of the Danube, Buda and Pest, and see the most iconic sights that define the city’s skyline and spirit. If you prefer to enjoy the view comfortably from the car, we’ll keep our stops short and scenic. If you’d like to explore deeper, we can extend the experience into a full-day journey.

The short version of the tour includes quick photo stops at:

  • Opera House and Andrássy Avenue
  • Heroes’ Square and City Park
  • St. Stephen’s Basilica
  • Dohány Street Synagogue
  • Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion
  • Hungarian Parliament Building

All parking fees are included in the tour price. I know where to park closest to each landmark, so we spend our time discovering Budapest not searching for parking.

Optional walking extensions

Depending on your interests, you can choose to explore one of these areas on foot:

Castle District (2-2.5 hours, 4.5 km)Holy Trinity square in Buda Castle

Walk through centuries of history, from the medieval walls to the Royal Palace.

We’ll visit Matthias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion, and the Sándor Palace while I share stories about Hungary’s past and how it shaped the nation we live in today.

Every building here has witnessed a piece of our thousand-year history.

As we wander through these winding streets, the skyline opens up to unforgettable views over the city. This area is compact, but full of stories at every turn.

Heroes’ Square and City Park (1 hour, 2 km)Széchenyi Bath in Budapest, City Park

Admire the grand statues of Hungary’s kings and freedom fighters, visit the Vajdahunyad Castle, and see the Széchenyi Thermal Bath and the new House of Hungarian Music an architectural masterpiece that blends nature and sound.

The park’s paths are flat and easy to walk, making this extension suitable for all ages and energy levels.

It is an ideal way to experience Budapest’s cultural and natural contrasts side by side.

Parliament and the Danube Promenade (1 hour, 2 km)

We’ll walk through Kossuth Square and the riverbank memorials including the Shoes on the Danube and see the Parliament, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the historic Stock Exchange Palace. This is where Budapest’s grandeur meets its most emotional stories.

This section is mostly riverside, with plenty of space and air around you. The monuments feel close here, as if Budapest’s past and present are both within arm’s reach.

Ferenciek Square and the City’s Grand Palaces (45 minutes)

Discover the heart of historical Pest: the Klotild Palaces, Parisi Udvar, Március 15 Square, Franciscan Church.

This part of town perfectly captures the city’s fin-de-siècle elegance and café culture.

Architecture lovers will enjoy every corner, but even a casual walk is a treat thanks to the lively cafés and bookshops. This is Pest at its most elegant and human scale.
